Dumfries Pipe Band

About the Band

Dumfries Pipe Band meet for practice every Monday evening between 6 pm and 8.30 pm at Troqueer Church Hall, Church Street, Dumfries, DG2 7AS.

Our aim is to promote the teaching, playing and appreciation of pipe band music and instruments, by providing affordable piping and drumming tuition and encouraging members to reach their full potential. There are piping and drumming sessions for all abilities from beginner through to experienced players.   Playing in the band requires a degree of dedication on the part of the members. Time and practice is spent on techniques and working together as a group.   We have a longer-term ambition to compete in local and national Pipe Band competitions.

The band has performed throughout the Region including events such as the Guid Nychburris festivities, The Scottish Rally, The Burns Mausoleum 200th Anniversary procession, the Town's Remembrance Day Parade, The Dumfries and Kircudbright Tatoos and alongside the Red Hot Chilli Pipers at their concert in the town.   We are available for bookings, whether it's a small function needing a single piper, through to a full marching parade.

The Band is run by a Committee of volunteers and we are currently seeking to recruit new members, in particular pipers of all abilities and those able to assist with teaching pipes and drums.

Anyone interested in joining the band should get in touch or pop along to one of our practices where they will be made very welcome.
